Then, on the way home it happened.The axel broke, destroying the wheel bearings, tearing out the center of the wheel rim, wrecking the lug nuts. We had to figure a way to get the trailer off the highway. We were in farmland with no signal so we couldn't get help. We had a spare but no way to put it on with no axel so Dad Macgyvered one using bb's, duct tape and twist ties.

Out in the distance was a farmhouse that turned out to be vacant. It was just close enough that Dad's fix held just until we got there.

We knew we were in the right place when we pulled up and there was this golf figure but that wasn't all, there was a giant golf net.

We parked the trailer, drove home, and the next day bought the parts for a permanent fix, then drove the 90 miles back to the farmhouse, Dad fixed the trailer and now we are home.
